CREATIVE MONEY                                                                                      Millie Horak

THANK YOU!

Dear Iris Lovers—A big THANK YOU to all of you who brought items for our Silent Auction last fall, and also a big THANK YOU to all who participated in the sale by purchasing iris and other items.

Also, a big THANK YOU to members of the Hudson Valley Iris & Daylily Society who worked the auction tables and tallied receipts. Due to everyone’s help we had a very successful auction.

Spring is a good time to pick up iris items in specialty shops and even in dollar stores. Remember this is Region 2’s only fund raising activity and the funds are needed to keep us going. Hopefully we will have another successful auction with everyone pitching in.

If anyone has any ideas on raising money, please let me know.  Thanks!

Saturday, May 22, 2010, 10 a.m. – 12 noon

This session is being sponsored by the Central New York Iris Society.  The course will be presented by Helen Schueler at her home, located at 2620 Lamson Road, Phoenix, NY 13135.  The course will cover rating bloomstalks and flowers; the grooming, transportation and presentation of bloomstalks; understanding show schedules; and the criteria iris judges use when judging bloomstalks.  Some time will be spent in the garden in order to evaluate flowers and bloomstalks.  Please let Helen know if you are planning to attend the course.  (telephone – 315-695-6777)  Note:  This course is open to the general public.

Please let me know if any other judges training sessions are being planned within the region during the year 2010 (telephone – 585-621-8985 or e-mail – gwr67@peoplepc.com).  The deadline to include the information in the May mailing to the judges is Thursday, April 15th.
