AIS Region 2 Annual Meeting, October 2012
Advance Notice

On Saturday, October 20, 2012, the AIS Region 2 Fall Meeting will be held in Western New York, hosted by WNY Iris Society and held at the SONOMA GRILL, 5010 Main Street in Snyder, NY, just off the NYS Thruway (main meeting and dinner). Adjacent is the completely renovated Lord Amherst Hotel <http://lordamherst.com> offering a very reasonable rate of approximately $70/night.

Our festivities will begin on Friday, October 19, approximately 5 miles from the Sonoma Grill.  Host Dave Baehre will open his home to you and yours for food and beverage "Buffalo Style". There is no better way to begin an Iris agenda weekend in Western New York.

On Saturday Jim Hedgecock, President of the Spuria Iris Society, will be our Speaker and will conduct Judges’ Training on Spuria Iris.  Jim is owner of Comanche Acres <www.comancheacresiris.com> in Gower, Missouri, which offers 2000 varieties of Tall Bearded, Louisiana, and Spuria Iris for sale. Jim received the 3rd Place Medal in November 2011 from the Moscow, Russia International Competition, held in this past spring, for his 2008 TB intro., 'Lani Hoko.' Jim frequently conducts judges’ training sessions and programs on “Iris.”

In addition to the traditional schedule of meetings, we'll have both a Silent Auction of garden related items and a Live Auction of Iris rhizomes at the Saturday dinner.  We shall be soliciting items for both! On unday. morning, Judy Tucholski-Zon will conduct Judges’ Training on “Ethics.” Since this class is rarely available, please invite your new judges to attend.

A registration form for the meeting will be published in the summer by Registrar Marilee Farry. We expect the registration fee to be approximately $75, which includes lunch and dinner and a small portion of the speaker's fee. Early registration is encouraged.  Please watch your mail!
